Refrigeration for Markham’s food businesses

Markham’s food scene is busy and varied, with large Asian supermarkets, bakeries, dessert and bubble tea shops, hot pot and dim sum restaurants, and neighbourhood grocers from Unionville to Cornell. Trust Cooling supplies, installs and services commercial refrigeration across the Greater Toronto Area, and Markham is part of our regular service area. From our base in North York, Highways 401, 404 and 407 get our team to Markham quickly.

We take care of the whole cold chain: choosing equipment, planning the layout, installation and commissioning, and ongoing service. One team is responsible from start to finish.

Supermarkets and grocery

Large-format supermarkets need long refrigerated runs for produce, dairy, seafood, meat and frozen goods, and every metre of case affects both sales and the power bill. We work with:

If you are refreshing part of a store that stays open, we will plan the work in phases so you are not left with an empty aisle for longer than needed.

Seafood and live-product counters deserve special mention. They need cold, humid conditions, good drainage and materials that stand up to ice and salt water. We plan these counters alongside the walk-ins and prep areas behind them, so product moves from delivery to display without sitting out.

Bakeries, dessert shops and cafés

In a bakery or dessert shop, the display case is the storefront. Cakes, mousse, egg tarts and fruit desserts need to stay cold without fogging glass or drying out, and the lighting has to show them well. Patisserie cases, ice cream and gelato cases and compact semi-vertical units for grab-and-go drinks and snacks are all part of our range.

Bubble tea and café operators often need refrigeration in a very small space: under-counter storage, a glass-door cooler for bottled drinks, and a walk-in or reach-in for milk, fruit and toppings. We will look at the whole workflow, from deliveries in the back to drinks across the counter, and suggest equipment that fits.

Restaurants and walk-ins

Restaurants with large menus, especially hot pot, dim sum and banquet-style dining, need serious cold storage. We build modular walk-in coolers and freezers to your floor and ceiling height, with insulated panels in 80, 100 or 150 mm thickness, hinged or sliding doors, corrosion-resistant shelving and refrigeration packs sized for the load. Coolers typically run between 0°C and +5°C and freezers between −18°C and −25°C. Temperature monitoring with alarms can be included.

Want to try a few sizes before you call? Our 3D walk-in configurator lets you set dimensions, doors and refrigeration and download a PDF spec with an estimated load. Our walk-in installation page explains what happens next.

Inspections in York Region

Markham food premises are inspected by York Region Public Health. Ontario’s rules require potentially hazardous food to be held at 4°C or colder. Equipment that holds steady temperatures, plus alarms that warn you about a problem early, makes compliance much easier.

Service and emergency support

Keeping refrigeration efficient takes regular care. Our preventive maintenance covers the routine work that prevents breakdowns, and our 24/7 emergency support is there when something fails anyway. See commercial refrigeration repair for more.

Planning a new location

Opening a new store or restaurant in Markham usually means working around a lease timeline, other trades and an opening date. The earlier refrigeration is part of the plan, the smoother things go. We can work from your architect’s or designer’s drawings, flag where condensing units and drains need to go, and tell you what your electrician and landlord need to know. That way the equipment arrives to a space that is ready for it.

We also think about what happens after opening. A layout that leaves room for service access, and equipment that is not crammed into a corner, makes routine maintenance quicker and cheaper for years.

Common questions

Do you cover all of Markham? Yes, including Unionville, Markham Village, Cornell, Milliken and the commercial areas along Highway 7 and Woodbine.

Can you handle a full supermarket fit-out? Yes. We plan the whole cold chain, from walk-ins in the back to multidecks, islands and serve-over counters on the floor, and install it ourselves.

What if I only need a single display case? That is fine too. Many projects are one case or one section.
