Refrigeration for Toronto food businesses

Toronto is where most of our work happens. Our showroom and warehouse are at 105 Brisbane Rd in North York, so a site in Etobicoke, Scarborough, East York or downtown is a normal day for us, not a special trip. We supply commercial refrigeration, install it, and look after it afterwards, which means the people who planned your layout are the same people you call when something needs attention.

Most of our Toronto customers are independent operators: a family supermarket replacing tired multidecks, a butcher adding a longer serve-over counter, a café that needs a glass-door cooler for drinks, a restaurant that has outgrown its reach-ins and needs a proper walk-in. Some are opening a new location; others are upgrading one aisle at a time while the store stays open. We plan for both.

Equipment we supply and install

We work across eight equipment families, so a whole front-of-house and back-of-house cold chain can come from one supplier:

If you are not sure which family fits a product line, that is a normal starting point. Tell us what you sell, how fast it turns over and how much floor you have, and we will suggest options and explain the trade-offs, including energy use and refrigerant choices.

Planning around a Toronto site

City locations come with their own constraints, and it is better to talk about them before equipment is ordered than on installation day. Narrow storefronts and older buildings can limit how a case comes through the door. Basement storage rooms often mean a walk-in has to be built from panels on site. Condensing units need a place to reject heat, whether that is a roof, a rear wall or a mechanical room, and the route for refrigerant lines and drains has to make sense.

We look at these things during the consultation, on site or from your drawings, and design the layout with service access in mind. Coils, fans and panels that a technician can actually reach mean shorter repairs and less downtime later. We also map the whole cold chain, from the delivery door to the walk-in to the sales floor, so product is not sitting at room temperature longer than it needs to.

Food safety and inspections

Toronto food premises are inspected by Toronto Public Health, and results are published through the DineSafe program. Ontario’s food premises rules require potentially hazardous food to be held at 4°C or colder, so stable cases and walk-ins matter for more than appearance. We specify equipment and controls that hold temperature steadily, and walk-ins can be fitted with temperature monitoring and alarms that warn you before product is at risk.

Steady temperatures also help on the commercial side. Cases that cycle evenly keep produce from wilting and meat from discolouring, which cuts shrink and keeps displays looking full.

Service, maintenance and emergencies

Installation is not the end of the job. We offer planned preventive maintenance so coils stay clean, drains stay clear and small faults get caught early. When something does fail, we provide 24/7 emergency support, because a freezer that stops on a Saturday night cannot wait until Monday. See our commercial refrigeration repair and preventive maintenance pages for what that involves.

Recent work in Toronto

Recent installations on our projects page include a supermarket fit-out with multidecks in Etobicoke, a produce wall and a bakery display in Scarborough, and beverage coolers in North York. You can browse photos on our projects page.

Common questions

Do you only work on new installations? No. We also replace single cases, extend existing runs and maintain and repair equipment that is already in place.

Can you work while the store stays open? Usually, yes. We plan upgrades in phases so only part of the floor is affected at a time.
